Introducing the Miss Riff-Raffles Contest!
In order to add a bit more audience participation to the Blog, we are going to be running a competition over the next few months to find “Miss Riff-Raffles”. To get you started we will have a trial competition through September and October. The main competition will then take place from November through to March, 2008.
All you have to do to enter is send an email to “photos [at] riffraffles [dot] com” with a picture of a girl holding a copy of my book, Riff-Raffles. You can submit as many different entries as you wish, but only one picture per lady. The viewers of the site will then have an opportunity vote for their favourite girl. The person who submits the winning picture will win a meal for two plus a bottle of wine at Manhattans Steak House in Pattaya. Manhattans is a personal favourite of mine with wonderful food in high quality surroundings with a wonderful ambience. The prize will remain open for twelve months so don’t worry if you only visit Pattaya once a year. If you win but are not planning a return trip then you will be able to nominate a friend to have a good time instead of you!
The pictures may be of your girlfriend, your wife, or any girl you think is attractive and is willing to be photographed for this competition. She must, however, be holding a copy of the book! The girl who claims the title “Miss Riff-Raffles” will win a shopping voucher, although the type and denomination remains undecided as yet. In addition we are hoping that one of the main Pattaya media companies will become involved and help to promote this event and publish some pictures of the winners or even interview them for local television news. The girl in the picture need not be the person you take to dinner at Manhattans, although, if she is then so much the better.
Although the real competition will not get underway until November you can still send in your pictures from now onwards and they will then be held by us and posted once the competition is open. All we ask is that you keep the pictures decent as no nude or even topless pictures will be added to this Blog.
I know the details are a little sketchy at present but as we progress this over the next month or so everything will be made a lot clearer. Anyway to get us off to a start my trusty lieutenant (otherwise known as the Blog Janitor — presumably because he tidies up all the s*** I write) has been out and about in the streets of Pattaya snapping pictures of pretty girls holding a copy of Riff-Raffles. He claims he has been doing this solely for the Blog — yeah right! Anyway over the next few weeks Blog Janitor, or BJ for short, will be posting his pictures, plus a few I have added, for you to vote on. We will award a prize to the girl who wins this initial competition and she will be automatically entered into the main competition that follows, so your votes do count.
Runner-up prizes of the sequel to Riff-Raffles will also be awarded. The new book is likely to be out in the early part of 2008.
Blog Promise: Unlike the BBC this will be a legitimate competition and we will not be awarding first prize to a member of the production team or his wife nor will we be rigging the voting!
